About ‘The Creative Butterfly Project CIC’ that was,
but is no more due to Covid-19
The project was originally set up in May 2016 by Jill Boyd, an adversity survivor and artist, with the support from the Charity Staying Put.
The Community Interest Company (CIC) - The Creative Butterfly Project - was a not-for-profit grassroots endeavour, devoted to art-based empowerment for individuals who had experienced and survived life changing adversity. With 3 Directors (who were unpaid) it tried to find funding to create workshops that were positive, engaging and accessible.
Through therapeutic group sessions, using art, it strived to raise self-esteem and increase confidence.
Based on the success of being one of seven UK finalists in the National Lottery Awards Best Arts Project 2017, Jill Boyd (Founder) and two others created a community interest company in order that they could seek independent funding.
It’s aims were to :
· Enable those survivors of adversity to build their self esteem and confidence, using a specific creative programme of sessions within a group setting that was very much person-centred. The participants, who were central to the project, took ownership of their own work and ideas to express themselves as individuals, who deserved to be valued.
No drawing/art skills were required or previous knowledge of creative processes needed to be in place prior to attending.
