HOW IT STARTED.....

I wanted to facilitate just 3 creative workshops (voluntarily) for women survivors of domestic abuse. My aim was to enable the participants to focus on positive aspects of themselves using creative processes. I wanted to support these women in being able to rebuild who they were after surviving adversity. We had several women come from the Domestic Violence Service (Keighley) who work in partnership with Staying Put as our willing participants.

We were given an 'Awards for All' lottery grant in 2016 so two sessions a week can run for a year in Bradford, West Yorkshire. This resulted in being nominated for The National Lottery Awards. We reached the final. One of seven project nationwide. It was humbling.

The Creative Butterfly Project is now a Community Interest Company (cic)

On the 18th December 2017

Companies House approved me and two other survivors of domestic abuse as Directors of this new social enterprise company. We want to help other survivors to rebuild who they were.

It means we can fund raise and bring more sessions to those that need it working in partnership with organisations such as Staying Put, Bradford, DVS (Keighley) and others.

Exciting times lay ahead as we carry on with our usual jobs and look after our families.
